Unfortunately, Voicenet's Parent Company - Viatel, Inc. 
(NASDAQ - VYTL) 

decided to shut down most all of its U.S. based services this past May 4th without any warning to its customers or agent representatives.  Viatel had just filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy 2 days earlier.  For financial reasons -Viatel, Inc. decided each of its subsidiary U.S. based companies (VOICENET included) and all their long time customers were not worth the time and effort to notify of this hastily made decision. 

Viatel had bought out Voicenet and its former parent company - Destia/Econphone Comm. back in December of 1999.  Because Viatel mainly concentrates its business ventures building fiber optic networks in Western Europe, we can only guess its Board decided there wasn't much downside to its quickly made decision to exit the U.S. marketplace.  Our Telecom Association can only hope there is!!

Because this Telecom Association had seen a much greater movement to our other Best Pick Calling Card Company you see in the right hand column - AccuLinq Telecom, Inc., we have not seen too much affect on our viewers.
